Kerrydale's SOL & EOY Testing
The Virginia Standards of Learning Tests (SOLs) and End of Year (EOY) Testing are underway. Our students and teachers have been working very hard to prepare for the testing. Testing and make up testing will be held Monday, May 6th through Friday, June 14th. Please click on the school calendar link above to view all of the testing days. Please help your child be successful by helping them review their notes, practice by using Study Island and other computer links (see SOL Resources and check out the Counselor's Corner, under Departments to the left), helping them get a good night’s sleep, by eating a healthy breakfast, and by making sure they arrive to school on time on their testing dates. Third, fourth and fifth graders may eat breakfast (free) at school on their scheduled SOL testing days. Please try to schedule doctor's appointments on non-testing days. Please remind your child that they are prepared for the tests, not to be nervous, take your time, and that the teachers believe in you. LET’S SHOW OUR KERRYDALE PRIDE AND EXCELLENCE!!
Kerrydale Readers & Potomac Nationals Baseball!
This spring, the Potomac Nationals, minor league team of the Washington Nationals, is sponsoring a Reading Incentive Program at Kerrydale. Students who read 4 books and return the completed bookmark to school by Friday, May 24th will receive 2 FREE tickets to the Potomac Nationals baseball game on Sunday, June 2nd!
The Kerrydale Day at the Potomac Nationals Stadium is Sunday, June 2nd at 1:05pm. Kerrydale students can parade into the stadium with Uncle Slam to celebrate their reading achievement. The parade is held before the game. If students want to participate in the parade, the students need to be lined up in front of the field gate by 6:15pm. READ and HAVE FUN with the POTOMAC NATIONALS!!!

PWCS Schools will be CLOSED on Monday, May 27, 2013 due to the Memorial Day Holiday.
Register NOW for Kerrydale's Summer School
Kerrydale will be hosting an exciting Site-based Summer School program for K-Grade 4 students, beginning Monday, July 8, 2013 to Friday, July 26, 2012, from 9-12pm. Students are expected to attend every day of the program. We are excited to provide remediation in the areas of reading and mathematics, free of charge, for students who qualify. Free breakfast and lunch will be offered to all Summer School students. All 5th Graders, participating in Summer School, will attend Godwin Middle School. Be on the lookout for Summer School Registration forms which have been sent home. Please return your child’s application by June 7, 2013, to ensure him/her a spot. We need all library books back!
Please check under your bed, your closet, in your bookbag and anywhere else a good book might be hiding. We would love to have all of our books back! Overdue letter and notices are being sent home. Please hunt high and low for any missing books and return them or the money due to the Kerrydale Library as soon as you can. Thank you!

Missing items? Check the Lost & Found.
We have accumulated lots of jackets, lunch boxes, scarves, umbrellas, etc in the Kerrydale Lost and Found. If your child is missing anything, please stop by the cafeteria to claim any missing items. All items not claimed by the end of the school year will be donated to charity. Thanks for your help!
Help the Earth & Kerrydale!
Kerrydale collects and receives money for every ink or toner printer cartridge or old cell phone we recycle. The cartridges are recycled and if the phones can still be used, they go to a women’s violence charity to help women who need them or they get recycled as well. Please help Kerrydale work towards a cleaner earth while earning money to help our technology program. Cartridges and phones can be sent in with your child anytime or brought up to the computer lab and dropped off in the big box in the mailroom or in the front of the lab. In the past, we have used the money to purchase student software, digital cameras, headphones and other equipment. Thank you in advance for your support!
Parent Communication Portal Information
We are now processing applications for a parent user name and password to login into Parent Portal. Parent Portal is PWCS' parent communication system. Once you have recieved your user name and password, you can access your child's information, grades, and edit emergency information.
To create your account, please click on the left hand bottom link entitled Parent Portal, and then First Time Registration.
Once you have registered for a Parent Portal account, you will receive an email within 3-5 business days that includes your username and temporary password. Print and sign the email. Then bring the printed and signed email to the front office with government issued photo ID, any school day during business hours. Your government issued photo ID will be verified and your account will be activated within 2 business days. Questions? Email Mrs. Wingo Ermold at wingomm@pwcs.edu .
